Penelope Edler’s Chez Danse is located at the SC Airport Industrial Estate on the Sunshine Coast. Chez Danse is pronounced Shay Dance and means 'House of Dance' in French.  Owner and Principal Penelope Edler has over 30 years experience as a dance teacher and 15 years experience as an Australian dance adjudicator.  Chez Danse offers classes in RAD classical ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, and specialises in dance classes for tiny tots, children and adults.

We also hold various workshops during school holidays to give the children a fun and creative experience.

Our facility is absolutely beautiful, designed to inspire and delight dancers of all ages. We have a gorgeous fairy garden for the children and grown-ups to explore & enjoy.

Miss Penny enjoys passing on her love of performing and encourages all the great benefits of learning a creative art form to the children and adults she teaches and adjudicates.  Holding a Bachelor of Arts, Graduate Cert of Arts and a Diploma of Visual Art – Miss Penny believes that a well rounded education is essential for dancers.

Miss Penny has taught some of Australia’s finest dancers including Charles Bartley the runner up of So You Think You Can Dance Series 2. Charlie has gone on to feature in FAME the Musical, King Kong the Musical and was a featured dancer in Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby.  Kyle Page, Executive Artistic Director of Dance North also started his dancing life under Miss Penny’s guidance.

Chez Danse offers children and adults of the Sunshine Coast a quality dance experience where they can excel in a friendly environment, no matter what their level of dance or experience.

Penelope Edler

Penelope Edler has enjoyed a long teaching career (thirty three years) and is a registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance & the Les Griffith Tap Syllabus.  Miss Penny is a leading dance adjudicator called upon to adjudicate some of Australia’s finest dance competitions.  Miss Penny has studied extensively at tertiary level.  She has taught many students who have gone on to become professional performers in Musical Theatre, Ballet, Contemporary, Physical Theatre, Acting and Music. 

 

Fiona Nancarrow - Teacher

Fiona Nancarrow commenced dancing as a young child and she trained full-time from the age of 16 at Halliday's Dance Arts Centre, Sydney and the NSW College of Dance.  Fiona ran her own dance studio in Orange, NSW until she took a hiatus from teaching to follow another career path.  Fiona re-commenced teaching again in 2008 at Dancentrix Studio in Brisbane and graduated from the RAD CBTS teaching program (The Royal Academy of Dance Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies) in 2010.  Fiona has taught Adult Ballet classes at Mad Dance House in Brisbane and enjoys working with with adult and senior students.

 

Michelle Du Plessis - Teacher

Bachelor of Arts degree major in Psychology

Born in South Africa, Michelle Du Plessis finished her Bachelor of Arts degree major in Psychology and became a Jazz Modern Dance teacher in 1997, at the "South African Dance Teachers Association".  She has been teaching junior and adult jazz as well as Hip Hop for the last 20 years in both South Africa and Dubai (at the Dubai Ballet Centre).  Michelle also taught junior jazz in Brisbane and on the Sunshine Coast on and off for the last two years.  Michelle is a certified member of the CSTD (Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing).
